Housekeeping, or Bye Bye 2001-2002

I’ve had to remove the Atomic photos from 2001 & 2002 as I’m running out of disk space. Hope you don’t mind! If you do ever want to see them again, let me know, I’ve still got ‘em all lying around somewhere.

New Order YouTube Goodness

It’s been a while since I posted any YouTube videos, so here you go to get you in the mood for ATOMIC. 3 clips of New Order live in the BBC Radio 1 studios, 1984. Fantastic stuff, and well worth watching for the clothes alone (it must have been summer!!), and check Hooky’s work on the drum pads in Blue Monday!

Blue Monday

Well, it was never going to be ‘Best Dressed Man’…

… but I have just found out that I have been voted Best DJ in the Other category of the Capital Times’ Best of Wellington Survey. Proof here if you don’t believe me.

Wow! This was totally unexpected & I feel very humble (I didn’t even vote for myself). Thanks to all of you who voted, it really is very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Bill

Smiths still split (despite £40m offer to Moz)

According to the NME today (http://www.nme.com/news/30599):

Morrissey has revealed he has turned down a near-£40 million offer to tour again with his old band The Smiths.

The star, who also rejected a request to headline the Coachella Festival with the group in 2006, was asked if he would perform 50 shows throughout the world in 2008 and 2009.

The only condition was that he would have to tour with the band’s guitarist and co-songwriter Johnny Marr, thus meaning it the reunion not dependent on the participation of bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce.

Gossip folks?

This from the Slow Boat website:

We are pleased to announce that we are selling tickets for the December 8th show at the San Fran Bathhouse by Riot Grrl-ly types The Gossip. Fronted by the idiosyncratic Beth Ditto, the band have been around since ’99 and achieved crossover success with recent single, the pro-same sex marriage, anti-Bush “Standing In The Way Of Control”.
The first 100 earlybird tickets are $46 including booking fee…

Might be a good idea to get in early…

Setlist & mixtapes

So, I’ve finally got around to deciphering my scrawl & the setlist from Saturday night’s epic 24 Hour Party people is up here (if you’re interested).

I’ve also got the tracklist for volume 2 of the 24 Hour mix CD up here – let me know if you like it!

Photos up!

Photos from Saturday night’s brilliant 24 Hour Party People are now up. Just browse the 24 Hour menu on your right or just click here. A great big thank you to all who came down to the Bath House. Hope you had a good time – I had a blast!

For any of you who got a CD – let me know what you think of it. Tracklisting & setlists will be up soon…

Cheers, Bill

So, whatever happened to that baby on the cover of Nevermind?

And that girl on the cover of the Violent Femmes first album?

Thanks to the wonders of the modern internet, we can now know. Take this link

Note: They seem to have airbrushed out the baby’s pen1s from the Nirvana album cover for some reason, too. Weird.

It’s Just Like A Cassette, But Not!

From here:

Remember back in the days before digital music players and MP3s?
If you do, then you probably made compilations of all your favourite music, to share with your friends and loved ones, on good old fashioned blank cassette tapes.
If you miss making mix tapes this product will inspire you again!

USB mix tape

Haha, I’m unsure what to make of this – on sale at the end of September apparently. Actually, I think it’s kinda cool – if you don’t like it, just ‘tape’ over it!
