Hilly Kristal, founder of legendary punk venue CBGB has died at the age of 75.Obituary from the NME here.

New Order YouTube Goodness
It’s been a while since I posted any YouTube videos, so here you go to get you in the mood for ATOMIC. 3 clips of New Order live in the BBC Radio 1 studios, 1984. Fantastic stuff, and well worth watching for the clothes alone (it must have been summer!!), and check Hooky’s work on the drum pads in Blue Monday!
Well, it was never going to be ‘Best Dressed Man’…
… but I have just found out that I have been voted Best DJ in the Other category of the Capital Times’ Best of Wellington Survey. Proof here if you don’t believe me.
Wow! This was totally unexpected & I feel very humble (I didn’t even vote for myself). Thanks to all of you who voted, it really is very much appreciated.

Smiths still split (despite £40m offer to Moz)
According to the NME today (http://www.nme.com/news/30599):
Morrissey has revealed he has turned down a near-£40 million offer to tour again with his old band The Smiths.
The star, who also rejected a request to headline the Coachella Festival with the group in 2006, was asked if he would perform 50 shows throughout the world in 2008 and 2009.
The only condition was that he would have to tour with the band’s guitarist and co-songwriter Johnny Marr, thus meaning it the reunion not dependent on the participation of bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce.

If you do, then you probably made compilations of all your favourite music, to share with your friends and loved ones, on good old fashioned blank cassette tapes.
If you miss making mix tapes this product will inspire you again!
Haha, I’m unsure what to make of this – on sale at the end of September apparently. Actually, I think it’s kinda cool – if you don’t like it, just ‘tape’ over it!
